My Year as an Intern
Some of the my ups and downs at my field site have been learning to have patience with these middle schoolers, though the ups outweigh the downs! Being in class with such an awesome mentor and all of these silly kids everyday was definitely a big plus!
This year my nausea was probably learning to deal with middle school kids. Of course, I ended up loving all of the kids, but it was difficult because they are at this age.
This year my elation was realizing this is truly what I want to do with my life and thanks to Mrs. Rowe, I have figured that out.
When the author refers to being "forever committed" that really hits home, because this year has made me see that this is truly what I want to do with my life. This year, being in a 7th grade on-level reading class, I learned that these kids truly do want to have a great education and go somewhere in life, and that this class could be the point that they all realize that. As a teacher, I could be the thing that helps them want to have a successful future. Mrs. Rowe has been such an awesome mentor teacher and all of her advice has been such a big part of my decision.
If I could change anything about my participation in my field site classroom, I would have taken charge a lot more. I would have done more one on one with the kids for sure.
